1980 Washington University School of Law, Juris Doctorate Degree with special studies in Taxation; after having completed all the regular law school programs, the Dean of the Law School allowed me to participate in a special program in my third year in which I took courses offered by the Masters in Taxation program at Washington University School of Law.

Winner of the Moot Court Competition

National Finalist, International Moot Court Competition, Tulane University, New Orleans, LA.

1977, Duke University, Magna Cum Laude graduate in English with special studies in Linguistics: I received permission from the Dean of undergraduate studies and the chairman of the English department to design a special curriculum individualized for me to have an emphasis in special studies of socio and psycho linguistics. This allowed me to opt out of numerous elective courses and concentrate on a special program studying the psychological and sociological aspects of speech.

Achievements: Winner of Outstanding Writing Award for Short Story. Winner of Best Director and Best Student Production for the Workshop Production of the Old Jew, a studio play. Winner of the President's Grant to attend Johns Hopkins University and retrieve and correlate papers of Ezra Pound, a poet for the Duke archives. Prepareed research notes and wrote for Professor Hodge O'Neil who used my work for his published treatise, Closely Held Corporations.

Recipient: The Sub-grant for a study Dr. Ronald Brothers, Professor of Linguistics, was doing for the National Endowment of Humanities on Dialect variations in various North Carolina socio-economic classes. This work was later published in the Journal of American Speech.
